Acknowledgements

I have a lot of people to thank. First is Prof. Bonnie Stewart, who chaired my committee at the WVU School of Journalism and provided endless support and guidance. The expertise of my other committee members was also invaluable: Prof. John Temple, Prof. George Esper and Mr. Rodney Bean, an attorney at Steptoe and Johnson. I also need to thank Dr. Diana Martinelli, Prof. Toni Locy and Ms. Jan Boyles at the School of Journalism for all of their non-official advice and support. And finally, many thanks to Dean Maryanne Reed for backing me and the project and supporting my work.

Outside of the School of Journalism, my friend Dr. Scott Sparks has been an endless source of support and advice, especially on medical issues. Pat McGinley at WVU's Law School and Philip Reale with the West Virginia Press Association lent their legal expertise in several areas. Barbara C. Johnson, an attorney in Maine, pointed me toward several promising cases and attorney Sheila Johnson at TruthInJustice.org took the time to point me toward a lot of resources. The Society of Professional Journalists also offered their support through a small grant from the Legal Defense Fund to assist in obtaining public records. Dozens of my friends helped with usability and beta testing, offering invaluable feedback that helped shape the final product.

Web Development

Where Doubt Remains is built on-top of the examples of people who know a lot more about this Web site stuff than I do. I've borrowed code from Jeremy Keith, author of Bulletproof Ajax, and some preloader icons were created by Ajaxload. Some graphics were purchased from Istockphoto.com's large catalog of stock artwork. XML Feed icons are courtesy Matt Brett. The entire system is run by SixApart's content management system, Movabletype 4.0.
